Over 1,300 Maharashtra villages getting tanker water

As monsoon plays truant and scarcity looms large, as many as 1,359 villages and 3,317 wadis (hamlets) in Maharashtra are being supplied drinking water through tankers.
A total of 1,464 water tankers, 1,249 of them privately-owned, have been pressed into service, officials said here.
In Nashik division, there are 435 villages and 1,430 wadis which are being provided drinking water through 469 tankers.
In Pune division, 337 villages and 1,415 wadis are getting water through 314 tankers, while in Aurangabad, 438 villages and 279 wadis are being serviced with 572 tankers.
