Over 1 lakh unemployed youth registered with DECC in J&K: Govt

Over one lakh unemployed youth were registered with district employment and counselling centres (DECCs) in Jammu and Kashmir up to December 20, 2016, the state government said today.
J and K Minister for Labour and Employment Haseeb A Drabu, said in the Legislative Assembly that 1,04,577, unemployed youth were registered with DECCs in the state up to December 20, 2016.
"Of them, 159 are illiterate," he said in a written reply to a question by PDP MLA Javid Hassan Baig.
However, the registration is voluntary and the figure may be higher, the minister added.
He further said 3,162 low-qualified skilled youth (1,107 skilled other than ITI and 2,055 ITI trained) are registered with DECCs up to December 20, 2016 across the state.
The Fast Track Recruitment Policy has been adopted for all government departments, he said, adding that the J and K special recruitment rules have also been notified.
The vacant posts, both gazetted and non-gazetted, have been referred to the recruitment agencies under direct quota by the departments concerned, the minister said.
Besides, in terms of recent budget announcement 2017-18, all state-sponsored self-employment schemes will be subsumed into a better incentivised single sector-agnostic credit linking schemes to address the unemployment problems, Drabu said.
All the beneficiaries of the said scheme shall have to mandatorily undergo a comprehensive entrepreneurship development programme through Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIS) and J and K Entrepreneurship Development Institute (J&KEDI, he said.
