Over 27 lakh tonnes paddy purchased in Haryana

Over 27 lakh tonne of paddy has been purchased by procurement agencies in the ongoing kharif marketing season (KMS).
As much as 30.40 lakh tonnes (LT) of leviable paddy and 0.93 LT of non-leviable paddy have so far arrived in the mandis of Haryana and 27.54 LT leviable paddy has been purchased by procurement agencies on Minimum Support Price (MSP) and 2.86 LT by millers and dealers, a spokesman of state Food and Supplies Department said.
He added Kurukshetra procured the maximum of 7.92 LT paddy, followed by Karnal, where over 6.99 LT paddy was procured. Similarly, over 4.31 LT of paddy is procured in Ambala, over 4.05 LT in Kaithal, over 2.34 LT in Yamunanagar, 1.80 LT in Fatehabad, among other areas.
The spokesman further said that during KMS 2015-16, Food and Supplies department has procured over a 13.17 LT paddy, 9.70 LT by HAFED, 2.88 LT by Haryana Agro Industries Corporation and 1.78 LT procured by Haryana warehousing department.
