"The number of cases under the consideration at NGT Delhi (Principal Bench) are 1600, Pune 543, Bhopal 256, Chennai 799 and Kolkata 407 as on June 30, 2017," Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
He said as per provision of Rule 18 of National Green Tribunal (Practice and Procedure) Rules 2011, cases are heard and decided finally, as far as possible, within six months from the date of filing.
He was asked about the number and details of cases under consideration of the NGT and details of the steps being taken to speed up the process of disposing of them.
