Over 300 mid-shipmen, cadets pass out of Indian Naval Academy

: Over 300 mid-shipmen and cadets of the Indian Navy and Coast Guard, including a cadet from Tanzania, passed out of the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala here Monday.

The 317 cadets, including 16 women cadets, had taken up four different courses in the autumn term of 2018, a defence press release said.

The cadets would now proceed to various Navy and Coast Guard ships and establishments to further consolidate their training in specialised fields, the release said.

The passing out parade was reviewed by Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, Vice-Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla who awarded medals to nine meritorious midshipmen and cadets, it said.

He congratulated the cadets and advised them to imbibe core values of the Navy - duty, honour and courage, the release said.

The parade was witnessed also by the parents and guardians of the mid-shipmen and cadets, it said.

The Presidents Gold Medal was awarded to mid-shipman Vikrant Nagpal, while the Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal for the Naval Orientation (extended) Course was awarded to cadet Hrushikesh Vengurlekar, the release said.

The Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal for the Naval Orientation (regular) Course was awarded to cadet Samson Moses and the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (South) Medal for the the Best Women Cadet was awarded to cadet Anuradha, it said.

Director of IIT-Gandhinagar Dr Sudhir K Jain, Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy Vice-Admiral R B Pandit and senior officers of the station and outstation were among those present on the occasion, it added.
