Over 400 people were prosecuted in a special drive against drunken driving by Delhi Traffic Police, during which over 350 vehicles were impounded.
During the drive, which was held between 7 PM to midnight last night, 420 drunk drivers were prosecuted and 363 vehicles were impounded. The police also prosecuted 131 owners of the vehicle, which were driven by those found guilty of drunken driving.
All TI Circles and ACP's Districts were present during the drive. It was ensured that all violators are being provided with fresh blow pipe while conducting breath test.
"Besides prosecuting them, violators were also directed to attend a counselling session at Traffic Police Headquarters today at 4 PM, where they attended educational lectures and were shown short films on drunken driving," said Anil Shukla, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
Apart from it, errant drivers were also asked to sign a pledge that they would not indulge in drunken driving in the future. Educational literatures for safe driving were also distributed during the session.
