Over 98 pc births registered in Haryana

Over 98.7 per cent of the total expected births in Haryana were registered during 2012.
While giving this information here today, a spokesman of Health Department said in 2012, over 5.63 lakh births and 1.60 lakh deaths were registered in the state.
The registration of births is expected to be hundred per cent in next few years, he said.
The spokesman said that while the facility of registration of births has been provided to the common man at Primary Health Centres, the shortcomings in the system have been removed by way of regular monitoring at state level.
He said that as per the arrangement made by the department, births in rural areas were registered at Primary Health Centres through Anganwadis workers and health workers.
On getting birth registered through health worker, the birth certificate is issued free of cost.
He said that with the strengthening of civil registration system, various indicators were being marked by compiling the figures of births and deaths and among these indicators sex ratio is the key indicator.
On the basis of births registered in 2012, the sex ratio of the state has been registered as 853 females per 1000 males, he said.
A maximum sex ratio of 920 females as against 1,000 males has been registered in Mewat whereas, it was 793 in Kurukshetra, 788 in Rewari, 786 in Narnaul. In the remaining districts, the sex ratio remained between 800 and 900.
