He said that 22 persons had been arrested in connection with these thefts and so far Rs 16.35 lakh had been recovered.
In reply to another question, Transport Minister G S Bali said that 19 out of 27 Depots of Himachal Roads Transport Corporation are running in losses and the cumulative losses stood at Rs 79.90 crore.
Shimla depot topped with losses mounting to Rs 10.45 crore, followed by Tara Devi (Rs 7.93 crore), Bilaspur (Rs 7.93 crore), Shimla Rural (Rs 6.67 crore) and Dehra (Rs 6 crore).
He said that 1,443 stray animals had been sheltered in these cow sadans and the government has so far provided Rs 4.38 crore for construction and maintenance of these cow shelters.
