Over Rs 2cr seized in East Godavari till now under poll code

Over Rs 2 crore in cash has been seized in East Godavari district till now as part of enforcement of election code of conduct, which came into effect in early March.
East Godavari District Collector and Election Officer Neetu Prasad, in a statement tonight, said, "so far Rs 2,05,49,000 worth cash was seized during raids and searches conducted in the district as part of election code. A total of 417 persons were arrested and 786 cases registered.
Besides cash, eight cellphones and vehicles, among other items, were confiscated in a series of raids in the district, she added.
