Critically acclaimed actress Padmapriya says she is not bothered by the the amount of projects that comes her way as it the quality of roles that holds prominence in her life.
Padmapriya, whose last Malayalam film was released in April last year said, she does not believe in cutting down or increasing the number of films she signs for.
"I don't believe in cutting down or increasing the number
of films I do. Some years you have more work and some years less. That does not bother me. What matters is the end product," she told PTI.
The actress has just wrapped the shooting for her role in the Malayalam period film 'Iyobinte Pustakam' directed by Amal Neerad.
Padmapriya said she can't throw much light on her role in
the film and only revealed her character's name. She plays Rahel in the film which is placed in 1947-57 period in Kerala.
She said shooting for her character is over.
Asked how different this character will be compared to her earlier films, Padmapriya, who has enacted strong and critically acclaimed characters like Lakshmi in Blessy directed 'Kaazhcha', Mira in 'Vadakkumnathan' and 'Nili' in 'Pazhassi Raja', said, "Each film and hence character has its own challenges."
"There is no point in comparing them, they are unique and
that's the fun of cinema," she added.
When asked if boredom was the reason behind her less appearance on screen, she said," On boredom, please check my filmography - can any actress call it boring?
"Ouch! On that note want to thank all the directors and
the audience for allowing me to experiment and keep work an exciting alive organism than a dead stagnant proposition," she added.
Queried about the experience on working with a young director like Amal Neerad, she said "I have worked with many young directors like Chandan, Ram, Chimbudevan, Vishnu and closer home Anwar (his first film)."
"Cinema is a directors' medium and each individual has their bit to contribute. It is not so much affected by ones age as much as the directors experience, views and values. My effort is to try to understand and make that part of their filming exercise."
'Iyobinte Pustakam' has Fahad Fazil and Isha Sharvani in the lead roles.
