Military spokesman Major Genera Asim Saleem Bajwa said the rebels were killed by the security forces last night in Shunkrai area of Mohmand tribal region in Pakistan, close to the border with Afghanistan.
He said that at about 0130 hrs, a group of about 10-15 terrorists tried to sneak into Pakistan territory from neighbouring Afghanistan.
"Pakistan troops observed move and surrounded them. Intense Exchange of firing took place for about an hour. Bodies of killed terrorists are in custody of security forces," he said.
The information could not be verified through independent sources as the area, where the fight occurred, is out of media's reach.
Pakistan army has intensified their hunt of Taliban rebels in the lawless tribal region along Afghan border since Taliban stormed a school in December and killed at least 136 students.
