Uncertainty prevailed once again in Pakistan cricket after the Supreme Court scheduled a hearing tomorrow of the petition that was filed by the government and the Board against the reinstatement of Zaka Ashraf as PCB chairman by the Islamabad High Court.
A two-member bench of the Supreme Court had restored Najam Sethi as chairman of the Board while setting aside the IHC decision restoring Ashraf on May 21 but since then only one hearing has been held on the petition.
But today, PCB officials and the legal team confirmed that a hearing had been scheduled tomorrow in Islamabad.
"It has come up suddenly and indications are not very good for Sethi," one source in the Board told PTI.
The SC had on May 21 also ordered the restoration of the managing committee of the PCB which was appointed by the Prime Minister on February 10 to run cricket affairs.
The government appointed the managing committee that included Sethi in February after the IHC had reinstated Zaka Ashraf as PCB chairman in January.
The IHC then on May 17 again restored Ashraf as chairman while setting aside the government decision to appoint Sethi and the managing committee.
"It is not a good situation for the Board employees as well as Pakistan cricket as until the SC gives a decision no one really knows what is going to happen. There is a lot of uncertainty," the source said.
