Israeli police say border guards shot and killed a Palestinian attacker wielding a knife after he attempted to stab troops at a West Bank checkpoint.
Police spokeswoman Luba Samri says the incident happened near the city of Nablus. She says the Palestinian got out of a taxi near a military post and began running toward officers while brandishing a knife.
The Palestinian health ministry identified the assailant as 51-year-old Samir Seresi.
It was the second Palestinian death today. Earlier, a 21-year-old Palestinian died in clashes with Israeli troops following a raid in the West Bank village of Qattana.
The two-month wave of violence has killed 19 Israelis. At least 93 Palestinian have died, including 59 said by Israel to be attackers.
