India's leading squash players Saurav Ghosal and Dipika Pallikal made a winning start in the doubles events at the Commonwealth Games here today.
Having failed to bag India's first squash medal at the Commonwealth Games in the singles category, Ghosal and Pallikal teamed up for the mixed doubles. The fifth seeds dismissed Sri Lanka's Ravindu Laksiri and Naduni Gunawardane 11-3 11-4 in Pool 5 at the Scotstoun Sports Campus.
The other team in their group is 12th seeds Samantha Cornett and Shawn Delierre from Canada.
In the men's doubles, Ghosal combined with Harinder Pal Sandhu to beat 9-11 11-3 11-2 in Pool 7. The seventh seeds next face 10th seeds Peter Creed and David Evans of Wales later today.
Fifth seeded Pallikal and Joshana Chinappa begin their women's doubles campaign against the Sri Lankan pair of Mihiliya Methsarani and Nadindhi Udangawe later today.
