Panchayat polls: Prohibitory orders imposed in Muzaffarnagar

Prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 have been imposed in the district till November 28 in view of the upcoming panchayat elections in the state.
Additional District Magistrate Manoj Kumar Singh told reporters here today that Section 144 of CrPC has been promulgated to maintain law and order in the district and for smoothly conduct the poll.
The order bars assembly of more than four persons in public place and carrying arms and other weapons in the district.
Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh are scheduled to start from October 9.
