Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister G C Kataria, on a query of BJP MLA Randheer Singh Bhinder during Zero Hour, said in the Assembly that panchayats were constituted in the state in 1991-92 based on the 1981 census, now it was the right time to re-demarcate (reconstitute) panchayats based on 2011 census.
He said the parameters used in the scheduled area and sandy desert areas would not be disturbed.
A panchayat samiti would also be constituted on every 2.5 lakh population with a 50 panchayats in its fold, he said, adding this would be a new procedure.
On a starred question of BJP MLA Ms Anita, Education Minister K C Saraf said the state government would open one college in every sub-division where ever it did not exist so far.
Fifteen more degree colleges would be opened in state in the current fiscal year in cities where the students' figure would be more than 5,500, he said.
