Later, he cruised past Chennai youngster S Shri Krishna by the same margin to enter the semi-finals.
In the other round of pre-quarter matches, Dilip Kumar of Southern Railway beat B Sisodiya 4-2 while Chennai cueist Varun Kumar edged past Ashutosh Padhy by the same scoreline.
Other players to make it to the last eight were Laxman Rawat who got the better of Balaji Reddy 4-3 and Ketan Chawla who knocked out Nitesh Madan 4-2.
