A high-level committee under Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has been set up to ensure proper implementation of electronics policy and to attract investments from global and domestic companies, according to an industry official.
"A high level committee under the Chief Minister was set up today to ensure proper implementation of electronics policy, encourage global companies, attract investments and improve policies for betterment of this sector," said Indian Cellular Association, President, Pankaj Mohindroo.
Earlier in the day, Mohindroo held a meeting with state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said.
Some of ICA's prominent members include Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, Nokia, Motorola, HTC, Gionee and Blackberry.
Investors participating in the e-UP summit have asked the state government to make labour laws flexible to suit the requirements of the electronics industry and ensure proper power supply to encourage investments.
"We have asked the Chief Minister to make labour laws flexible to suit the needs of electronics industry in which almost 80 per cent workforce comprise women and there should not be any legal hitch in deploying them in night duty as IT and electronics factory work round the clock," said Mohindroo.
Spice Group Chairman Dilip Modi said, "Since we want the state to take a lead in "Make in India" campaign, we asked the Chief Minister to develop the eastern districts of the state on the lines of Nodia on Delhi's outskirts."
Mohindroo emphasised that proper infrastructure and 24-hour power supply were necessary to grow the industry.
