Amidst allegations of violations of the National Reservation Policy in admissions and recruitments by Delhi University, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Welfare of SCs and STs today visited the varsity to investigate the same.
Fifteen members of the committee with its Chairman, Faggan Singh Kulaste interacted with the teachers belonging to SC/ST and OBC category to know their views on the implementation of the National Reservation policy in DU.
Taking note of the complaints received from a section of teachers, the committee members are believed to have instructed
the university to "expedite" the implementation and compliance with the norms.
The Standing Committee is also scheduled to meet the principals of all the Colleges to ascertain the status of implementation of the Reservation policy in their Colleges.
Later the Committee will also meet university officials to gather their inputs on implementation of the Reservation policy in DU.
The representatives of Delhi University's Teachers Association (DUTA) also met the committee members and submitted a representation to them alleging "gross violation" of the policy by DU.
The teacher's body also alleged in a statement that the Vice Chancellor, tried to mislead the committee members.
The issue had also featured in the white paper released by DUTA last year on the alleged irregularities in functioning of the university.
