The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), which is also fixing ceiling prices drugs under the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM), has also asked pharmaceutical firms to furnish their price to retailer (PTR) and moving annual turnover (MAT) of 102 medicines in the list.
In a letter to Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), the NPPA asked the industry body to tell its members to provide information on patented drugs imported/ manufactured for sale in the domestic market.
The letter was sent after a meeting of an inter- ministerial committee on price negotiations for patented drugs that was held earlier this month.
In a separate notice on Tuesday, NPPA asked companies to furnish PTR and MAT in value terms of essential drugs for May 2012 with regard to 87 formulations and for September 2013 for another 15 common formulations within a week "for taking appropriate action for ceiling price fixation" under the Drugs Price Control Order.
