"We had received a complaint on Saturday evening that a youth produced a fake currency note of Rs 2000 denomination at a local petrol pump after purchasing the fuel," Prafull Rai, Burhar Police Station in-charge, told PTI.
"The pump attendant suspected that it was a fake currency note and alerted his co-workers. Later, the pump management passed on this information to local police," Rai added.
Police said that on being detained and interrogated, Amit revealed he got this fake currency note from owner of a local pathology lab.
"The scanned currency note was having same number as the one mentioned on fake note that was produced at petrol pump," he added.
The police said that a printed note's copy of the same number was also found it the dustbin of the pathology lab.
"One currency note of same number was discarded as the accused found that it was not printed properly," Rai informed.
