NRI industrialist Lord Swraj Paul has welcomed new agreements forging close partnerships between the UK-based University of Wolverhampton and six Indian varsities.
A delegation from the University of Wolverhampton, of which Lord Paul is Chancellor, visited Rajasthan between January 23 and 26 to build relations with the state.
During the four-day visit, University's Vice-Chancellor Professor Geoff Layer met the state Governor, ministers, business and academic leaders.
"The University of Wolverhampton has already developed strong partnerships in India, and the delegation's recent visit to Rajasthan has cemented new relationships in the state," Paul said.
"At a time when India is seeking to develop its infrastructure, the University can share its knowledge and expertise to help provide a skilled workforce and be a driving force in economic growth," he said.
"The visit successfully enabled the University to build significant partnerships with education, business, government and the community in Rajasthan and discuss potential ways of working together for the benefit of the region," Paul added.
Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed by Prof Layer with the Employers Association of Rajasthan and six universities - Pratap Institute of Technology and Science; SS Jain Subodh PG (Autonomous) College; Vivekananda Global University; Suresh Gyan Vihar University; CREDAI and Maharishi Arvind Group of Institutes.
The agreements include exchange of students and staff, exploration of collaborative research projects and joint academic activities such as lectures and conferences.
The delegation also attended the Republic Day function on January 26 in the state as VIP guests of the Governor. They also met Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
