Attacking Sharad Pawar for offering outside support to BJP government in Maharashtra, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi today alleged the move was intended to keep under wraps the NCP leader's "corrupt dealings".
"His (Pawar's) role has always been suspicious and now he has been fully exposed before the people," the SP leader said.
"With his friendship with the BJP, he only wants to keep his corruption under the wraps," Azmi alleged.
He was here to take part in an Urdu award function, said.
The newly-elected MLA from Mankhurd-Shivajinagar seat in Maharashtra claimed that absence of any credible leader in the Congress in Maharashtra benefited the BJP in the recent Assembly polls there.
"Congress had to pay a price for failing to have an alliance with the Samajwadi Party...Absence of any credible leader in the Congress benefited the BJP in Maharashtra Assembly polls," Asim, who is president of SP's Maharashtra unit, said.
On the Owaisi brothers of MIM, Asim said that their "emotional speeches" were causing lots of damage to Muslims.
"Muslim league is responsible for partition and the result is that it is now confined to Kerala only," Asim said adding that unless a political party takes everyone along it cannot succeed.
"No one can succeed by inciting passions... They should have good relations with the majority community," he said.
On the issue of Ram temple, the SP leader said, "RSS has called for waiting till 2019 for the Ram Mandir construction."
"BJP is in majority in Parliament and can try to enact a law for Ram temple construction... But 85 per cent people of the country are secular and would never allow them to succeed as Constitution does not allow anyone to work according to their whims," he said.
