The Punjab government today decided to exempt the holders of plots and colonies developed before 1995 from the regularisation process and extended the last date for getting authorisation to October 25.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting presided over by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal here, an official spokesman said.
The first registered sale deed of a plot would be the basis for fixing levy under the Regularisation of Unauthorised Colonies policy, the spokesman said.
Anyone who has paid extra charges as per the last registry would be eligible for adjustment, he said.
It was also clarified that the year of sale of 50 per cent area of the colony or half of the plots would be the basis for establishing the year of the colony.
Owners can get their plot regularised after October 25 till November 5 by paying a compounding fee, he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister was briefed that more than one lakh applications had been received under the scheme.
Approximately 40 per cent of identified plot holders and 30 per cent of colonisers have applied for regularisation of plots/colonies under the scheme.
The government has so far received more than Rs 125 crore as regularisation fee.
