"The central theme of the celebrations would be 'Nanak Naam Charhdi Kala, Tere Bhaaney Sarbat da Bhala," this was decided at a high level meeting here, a release said.
The meeting was headed by the Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister, Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu.
In a statement after the meeting, Sidhu said that in a recent meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh it was decided by the state government to celebrate the 'Parkash Purb' on a grand scale.
Sidhu said that the Guru gave message of welfare of all humanity and the state government would propagate his teachings to all the corners of the globe through the celebrations.
He said that in today's meeting it was decided to form various committees as part of the year long celebrations.
Sidhu said that the Punjab Government would approach the prime minister for constituting a central level committee concerning the celebrations.
He said that other state governments would also be involved in the celebrations and written communications would also be sent to them to hold functions at the places connected with Guru Nanak Dev in their respective states.
