Planning Commission has approved of Rs 2,400 crore as the size of the plan for Puducherry for the fiscal 2014-2015, Lt Governor Lt General (retired) A K Singh said today.

Presenting his customary address at the opening day of the budget session in the assembly, Singh listed the achievements of various departments in various sectors and said the government had been spending a sizeable fund on social and human resources infrastructures such as education and health.

He said that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Puducherry had increased from Rs 16,769 cr to Rs 21,061 cr for 2013-2014 showing a growth rate of 25.59 per cent over the fiscal 2012-2013.

He said the Government would give priority to industries which are energy efficient, low water consuming and are high tech and knowledge based units.

The government had embarked upon Crime and Criminal Tracking network and systems, a mission mode project under the National e-governance plan covering almost all the police stations and higher officers.

Speaker V Sabapathy read out the Tamil version of the Lt Governor's address.

The House would debate on the motion of thanks on the Lt governor's address on September 12 and 15.

The Speaker adjourned the House to September 11 when the Chief Minister would present the budget for the current fiscal.

Meanwhile, AIADMK MLAs staged a walk out from the House alleging that none of programmes promised by the government had been implemented.
