Jammu and Kashmir Congress president G A Mir today blamed the PDP-BJP coalition government for the deteriorating situation in the state, saying that both the parties are doing politics over sensitive issues.
Addressing a rally at Kote Maira in Khour area here, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president claimed that the coalition partners are deliberately creating hurdles in the peace and development of the state by doing politics over sensitive issues.
"The PDP-BJP government is responsible for creating social and political uncertainty in the state as the approach of the both the coalition partners is totally contradictory on all sensitive issues, but despite that they want to remain in power at the cost of overall interests and wishes of the people of state, Mir said.
"The result of it (doing politics on sensitive issues) is that the situation in the state continues to deteriorate, which is a matter of great concern," he said.
"Congress is the only secular and unifying force in the state, which has always strengthened the secularism and it will continue to safeguard the secular fabric of the country and state," Mir said.
He said his party would never compromise with the communal forces in the state for the sake of power.
In an apparent reference to the BJP, the Congress leader said "the opportunistic political forces who exploit the religious and regional emotions of people for the sake of vested political interests do not hesitate to share power with ideologically opposite forces."
