"Even if it were not a Muslim observing Ramazan fast, nobody has the right to force-feed someone against his wishes," Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti, who is Lok Sabha MP from south Kashmir, said in a statement.
Mehbooba said while it was disturbing that the religious freedom of an individual had been breached by none other than the representatives of the people, who are supposed to be the guardians of everybody's rights, the issues involved in this episode are of wider concern.
She said her party is in the forefront of the fight for human rights, civil liberties and individual dignity and would continue to raise voice against any inhuman and intolerant behaviour.
