The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) suspended a party leader on Tuesday for filing nomination papers for the urban local body polls in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
Hameed Manhas was placed under suspension for undermining the directions passed by the party to its leaders and cadres that it would not participate in the panchayat and municipal elections, a party spokesperson said.
The action was necessitated after Manhas violated the party discipline by filing his nomination papers as a candidate from Surankote, the spokesperson added.
The civic elections will be conducted in four phases starting October 8, whereas the panchayat polls will be held in nine-phases from November 17.
