People asked to move safer places

A flood alert has been sounded and villagers living on the banks of the Azhiyar Dam near Pollachi in the district, have been asked to move to safer places as the excess water from the dam is being released, officials said today.
The dam is brimming touching its full level of 120 feet and excess water is being released.
Water thus released is passing through Angalakurichi, Kottur and Azhiyar areas and the people there have been asked to move to safer places, they said.
