Fox Star Studios' 3D film "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" is all set to hit Indian theatres on August 30 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The film stars a host of young talent such as Logan Lerman of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower", Alexandra Daddario, Leven Rambin, Brandon T Jackson, Jake Abel, Douglas Smith, Stanley Tucci, Anthony Head and Nathan Fillion.
Based on the best-selling series by Rick Riordan, the film is a contemporary fantasy adventure about a group of teenagers who are bestowed with magical powers by their Greek God parents. Racing against time and each other, the teen demigods must sail across the deadly Sea of Monsters, battling mythical creatures to retrieve the Golden Fleece, the only item with the power to save their world.
The 3D film has been directed by Thor Freudenthal, who has tried to remain true to the whimsical tone of the books.
"The amazing trick that Rick Riordan pulls off is having fun at a very fast pace and not always taking himself too seriously. But he never sacrifices the emotional core, which is a bunch of kids who have a heavy burden to carry: they have parents who are larger than life and are mostly absent," Freudenthal said in a statement.
The first film "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: the Lightning Thief" was a global box-office hit.
