An advocate-cum-politician, who has been pursuing the politically-sensitive Rs 64-crore Bofors pay-off case in the Supreme Court, said on Sunday that he has written a letter to the CBI seeking further investigation into the scam.

BJP leader Ajay Agarwal, who also accused former CBI Director Alok Verma of allegedly hatching a conspiracy to derail and scuttle further probe in the case, said he will file an application in his pending petition in the apex court in this regard.

He said instead of supporting his appeal against the 2005 Delhi High Court verdict quashing all charges in the Bofors case, the agency, which was then headed by Verma, in February 2018 filed a separate petition which was dismissed by the apex court on November 2, 2018.

The BJP leader said though his petition is still alive and could come up for hearing anytime after the Holi break, the agency's move was allegedly to delay the proceedings in the top court.

Agrawal had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Rai Bareli against then Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
