"The common man need not approach the high court for filing of PILs as it involves a cost factor. The filing of PILs can be done at munsiff magisterial courts also," the Chief Justice said while addressing C Padmanabha Reddy Memorial Seminar organised by Indian Lawyers Association here.
Justice Sengupta said the main purpose of PILs was protection of the human rights that are guaranteed under the constitution.
He also stressed for availing of the services of Legal Services Authority which would provide free legal aid.
District munsiff court is the court of the lowest order handling civil matters.
