"Inflation is really a problem but we (also) have a legacy problem. The UPA government, for 10 years what they have done, people have witnessed it. And the inflation issue is not like an electrical switch, (which can be turned) on and off," said Javadekar, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
He said the upcoming Union Budget would contain indications of the measures being taken by the government.
"Our government under the under the leadership of Narendra Modiji is taking basic policy decisions and making some real decisions on changing the very basis of the whole thinking in the economic field, an indication of which you will get in the budget," he added.
He said that there will be long-term relief for the common man based on policy prescriptions.
"People should hope, but as I said, it is not an on and off thing. There are international issues, there are international situations and there is (deficit) monsoon in the first month of June. These are worries, but the government is readying itself with a right mix of policy changes so as to give relief to the people on a long-term basis," Javadekar said.
