Playing Bajirao was an intense experience for Ranveer

Actor Ranveer Singh says he gave his best to justify the role of Peshwa Bajirao in his upcoming film "Bajirao Mastani".
"He (Bajirao) was a great man. The deeper I get into it the more I realise what a great man he was. It is a great honour to be selected to play this character," Ranveer told reporters here at an event.
"I did my best to justify what I was given to play. He was a true Maratha. It has been an intense experience for me," he said.
According to Ranveer, "Bajirao Mastani" is one of his few films which required hardcore preparation for the role.

"I had to focus and try and create something distinct. It is not easy to do a period character and transport mentally to that time," he said.
"No other film demanded this much of me. It is not a complaint... I am proud and happy to play this role which you get in a decade. I had got to do much for my craft," he added.

The "Band Baaja Baarat" actor thinks Deepika Padukone looks absolutely beautiful in the song "Deewani Mastani".
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has created a 'Aaina Mahal' (glass palace) for the song.
"Bhansali Sir has outdone himself. Sir had to create a Aaina Mahal of that scale and beauty to justify the beauty of his leading lady. That song is incredible... It will be one of the highlights of the film," the 30-year-old actor said.

"Gajanan" aarti song from Eros International and Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani was launched yesterday here at the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex, Balewadi Stadium.
"Everybody finds a reason to party during Ganesh Visarjan (immersion). I love dancing in Visarjan processions... I have got down and danced in random Visarjans after becoming an actor."
Ranveer reveals ace choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant calls his style of dancing as "Visarjan".
"It is one of my favourite dance forms of partying on street with loud music. People do strange steps. I am very excited and if I can't control I will jump and go and dance in one of the processions," he said.

Ranveer and Deepika were in Pune yesterday for the promotions of 'Bajirao Mastani'.
"It is amazing we kickstarted the promotions from Pune as it is appropriate. Bajirao's centre of empire is in Pune, his Mahal and his statue....," Ranveer said.
