Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's interaction with school students on Teacher's Day as a "path-breaking" initiative, industry body Assocham today said it will go a long way in laying the foundation for building a world-class human resource base in the country.
"Such an exercise should not be taken as symbolic but it should serve as an experiment as to how the Prime Minister of the country can reach out to millions of students through use of technology and bridge the gap between New Delhi, Leh, Trivandrum or Dantewada in Chhattisgarh," Assocham Secretary General D S Rawat said.
"Prime Minister's heart-to-heart interaction with school students on Teacher's Day is a path-breaking initiative and will go a long way in laying foundation for building a world class human resource that will be India's USP," he added.
On Teachers Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with school children across the country saying girl education is his top priority and the initiative to ensure toilets in all schools was part of this endeavour.
Talking about his "Digital India" campaign, Modi asked teachers to make best use of technology in teaching without any discrimination and keeping them away from technology would be considered as a "social crime".
"The way Jan Dhan Yojna for giving banking and financial service to each Indian household is being implemented, the Digital India initiative, as reiterated by the Prime Minister, can be a significant enabler for reaching the development benefits to the interiors parts of the country," Rawat said.
