Police arrest over 400 during vehicle checking drive

Uttar Pradesh police have arrested 419 persons for violating traffic norms in a special state wide vehicle checking campaign.
The campaign was carried out last evening through out the state in which 53,486 vehicles were checked at 6,197 places in the state, IG, Law and order A Satish Ganesh said.
During the checking 1461 persons were detained for interrogation of which 419 were arrested after lodging 234 FIRs, he said.
The FIR lodged were of different nature including violation of traffic norms, possessing illegal arms, drunken driving etc., he added.
