One person was arrested in Meghalaya's East Garo Hills district after an AK-56 rifle was seized from his possession, police said Tuesday.
The 20-year-old identified as Tengrik Marak of Chatchatgre village was arrested Monday evening following a tip off of him being in possession of the gun, they said.
"A police team conducted a search of the premises of his house and recovered the AK 56 assault rifle along with 13 empty folders, 4 mobile phones, 1 folding solar charger containing 4 solar plates and 13 live ammunition," said superintendent of police, Ringrang TG Momin.
