Starting the investigation into a case of trespassing against CBI officials, the police today wrote to the agency's SP at Bhubaneswar, seeking the details of the officers who had allegedly attempted to raid and search the residential quarters of a high court judge here on Tuesday night.
"We have asked for the details of the officers who were part of the CBI team, which had come to Cuttack on Tuesday night," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Akhileswar Singh said, adding that a response was awaited from the Superintendent of Police (SP), CBI.
The city police had last night lodged a case against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team on the basis of a complaint from a security guard deployed at the residential quarters of Justice C R Dash on Gopabandhu Marg in the Cantonment area.
In a case of "mistaken occupancy", the CBI officials, on Tuesday night, had come looking for Justice I M Quddusi, who was earlier residing in the quarters which are now being occupied by Justice Dash.
Justice Quddusi had vacated the quarters soon after his transfer to the Chhattishgarh High Court in April, 2010.
Meanwhile, the lawyers of the Orissa High Court, who are boycotting the court proceedings since yesterday over their demand for a judicial inquiry into the CBI's "misdemeanour", today filed a PIL in the court in this regard.
The High Court Bar Association has decided to continue with its stir. The members of the association will meet tomorrow to chalk out the next course of action.
