Police confused over filing FIR as monkey snatches chain

Kanpur Police went into a tizzy when a woman, whose gold chain was snatched by a monkey here, approached them and demanded an FIR be lodged against the monkey.
"If a person had snatched the chain then an FIR would have been registered, but we do not know against which monkey should a case be lodged," Nazirabad Police station In-charge Akhilesh Gaur said.
Urmila Saxena, a Kausalpuri resident, yesterday was on her way to a temple when a monkey tried to snatch her chain, police said, adding, the monkey snatched half of it and fled.
Upon receiving information, police reached the spot but on learning that a monkey had snatched the chain they returned without taking any action, Gaur said.

"We have approached the Municipal Corporation and asked them to launch a drive to catch the monkeys," the In-charge added.
