"Shekhar Ahire, a resident of Shramik Nagar in the city, was arrested from bus stand in neighbouring Sinnar taluka," said ACP (crime) Sachin Gore.
Police had last month arrested three persons in Shirdi for the murder of Surendra Shejwal alias Gharya, a slum-dweller, on January 20.
Shejwal was seeking ticket from Shiv Sena to contest from municipal ward number 18 for the Nashik municipal corporation polls, slated on February 21.
Police had ruled out political angle in the crime.
They are booked under various sections of IPC including murder.
