Police today claimed to have solved the murder of a 35-year-old barber with the arrest here of a man and the recovery of the weapons used in the crime which took place in south-west district.
According to police, a body with the face smashed was found by a constable near the Government Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in the Bindapur police station area on the intervening night of April 1-2.
The deceased was identified as Ram Bahadur, native of Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh who worked as a barber, said RA Sanjeev, DCP of south-west district.
Police said they have now nabbed one Raju for allegedly being involved in the murder while efforts are on to arrest a suspect identified as Babloo. Babloo, said to be Raju's brother-in-law, was an associate in the crime, police said.
According to police, Ram Bahadur lived with the family of one Guddi Devi, whose granddaughter was to be married with a youth, Sonu, who hailed from Sitapur.
However, the accused approached Ram Bahadur to call off the proposed wedding saying that Sonu was already married to a kin of his.
But as Ram Bahadur refused to do so, Raju made a plan to kill him. He met Ram Bahadur on the fateful night at Tooda Mandi in Najafgarh and invited him to a party at Matiala Road where he killed him using a stick and an iron rod, the DCP said.
