West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh today accused the state police of "acting as cadres of the TMC", and said the saffron party had to shift elected representatives to neighbouring states as they were being threatened to join the ruling party.
"The police is acting like cadres of the Trinamool Congress. Everyday, our elected representatives are being threatened with false cases. They have been asked to either join the TMC or face consequences. We have shifted most of elected representatives to neighbouring states," Ghosh said.
He said the BJP workers were taking shelter in neighbouring states, following "continuous violence unleashed by the TMC".
TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee, however, termed the allegations as completely baseless.
The BJP is trying to increase its footprint in West Bengal, which has 42 Lok Sabha seats. At present they have two seats in the state.
