Policeman, aide held for taking bribe

A police assistant sub- inspector (ASI) and his aide were today arrested red-handed while they were allegedly accepting Rs 3,000 as bribe, Lokayukta police said.
Barjhar police chowke in-charge ASI Balwant Singh Kundal and his friend Burhan Bohra, a shop owner, were nabbed while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from Rajesh Chauhan, Lokayukta police officer at Azadnagar police station Yuvaraj Singh said.
Chauhan had a dispute with his brothers a week ago, following which his brothers lodged a complaint against him at the Barjhar police chowke.
ASI Kundal demanded Rs 6,000 from Chauhan to junk the complaint against him and had asked to pay Rs 3,000 in first tranche. But Chauhan filed a complaint with Lokayukta police and a trap was laid.

Both the accused have been booked under the relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations are on, Singh said.
