Policeman killed in accident

A police constable, part of a security team of a legislator, was killed and three others injured when their SUV hit a tree at Balijan near here in the early hours today, police said.
Constable Abdul Aziz was killed, while two other constables, Dadul Gogoi and Jitu, besides driver Mohan Tanti were seriously injured in the accident on the National Highway 37 at around 1:30 AM, they said.
The injured were rushed to the Jorhat Medical College hospital here.
The three police constables were part of the security team of MLA from Mariani constituency Rupjyoti Kurmi.
They were returning to Mariani after dropping Kurmi at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati yesterday when the mishap occurred.
