Noisy scenes were witnessed in the Puducherry Assembly today when opposition AINRC member accused Chief Minister V Narayanasamy of having done nothing to strengthen the financial status of the union territory when he was a minister in the UPA government.
Participating in the debate on budget, AINRC's Ashok Anand also alleged that Narayanasamy had failed to bring any major industrial unit to the union territory to address the issue of unemployment among youth.
He claimed that the opening of separate account for Puducherry by the previous UPA government had caused serious setback to the fiscal status of the union territory and in getting sufficient central assistance.
Countering the charge, Narayanasamy told Anand that he should clarify as to what his party (AINRC) had done for Puducherry although it was an alliance partner of the Bharatiya Janata party and contested the Parliamentary elections with its support in 2014.
"You have kept quiet and did nothing and hence there is no justification in criticising me," the Chief Minister said raising his voice.
The House witnessed noisy scenes and order was restored after the Speaker V Vaithilngam intervened.
