Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy has urged the Centre to ensure increase in allocation of funds by 15 per cent under non-plan category in the budget of the Union Territory every year.
A release from office of the Chief Minister said today that the Chief Minister had pointed out at the 27th South Zone inter-state council meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday that there had been constant cut by the Centre in allocations under non-plan category of Puducherry budgetary funding every year.
"There should be rise by 15 per cent every year in allocations," the Chief Minister had said.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who inaugurated the meeting, had assured the Chief Minister that steps would be taken to concede the demand "as the plea is justified."
The release said the Chief Minister had also urged the Union Home Minister to take immediate steps to approve the French government aided twin projects for augmentation of drinking water supply and also expeditious completion of the underground drainage project in the Union Territory.
"These two projects formulated by Puducherry government would have the fundingby French government totalling Rs 2400 crore. As the Centre's approval was not available so far to implement these projects they could not be taken up by the territorial administration," the Chief Minister was quoted as saying at the meeting.
Narayanasamy also requested the Home Minister to include Puducherry in the 13th Central Finance Commission.
