An official communication here today said the committee headed by the Law Secretary had been asked to submit its report within a month.
The Union Home Ministry had notified the Rules of the Business of the Government of Puducherry in June 1963 the former French colony merged with Indian Union.
Ten years later an amendment was substituted by the Union Home Ministry which inter-alia dealt with Administrator's (Lt Governor's) executive functions, disposal of business allocated among Ministers and Executives and also matters for which reference was to be made to the Central Government.
"There are many areas which need attention of the government and several sectors whose potential for contribution to the growth of economy of Puducherry also needs to be tapped," the communication said.
Many provisions in the Rules of Business of the Government need suitable revision and enhancement to meet the genuine aspirations of the common man effectively and speedily and therefore the Lt Governor had constituted the panel.
