Hundreds of people affected by the various Ponzi schemes floated by dubious financial firms today blocked suburban train movements along major routes of Sealdah north and south divisions.
The blockades began from 4.25 AM when agitated people sat on the tracks demanding their money back, disrupting train movement.
Eastern Railway sources said, "Hundreds of people sat on the tracks on Bongaon line in the north division and all lines of the Sealdah south division".
After persuasion by the Railway police, the agitators lifted the protest at 9 AM.
A total of 19 trains had been cancelled due to this.
