The directive to PDD was given by Public Accounts Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in a meeting here under the chairmanship of MLA Rafi Ahmad Mir.
The committee asked PDD authorities to ensure effective implementation of programmes such as Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana and Accelerated Power Development among others so that benefits of such schemes reach people fast.
The Committee directed PDD authorities to gear up their field functionaries and strengthen the checking squads to curb the menace of power thefts.
The panel also discussed on measures taken for better power distribution, up-gradation and augmentation of infrastructure, recovery of power tariff and installation of meters.
